In line with its commitment to training and developing local skills, on Wednesday 29 October 2025, Timor Port welcomed more than 30 second-year mechanical engineering students from the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL) for a technical tour of its facilities.
Specializing in fluid mechanics, these students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the port environment by discovering the maintenance and repair operations carried out in Timor Port’s mechanical workshop. Under the supervision of members of the Workshop team, they were able to observe up close the maintenance processes for heavy equipment, the operation of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the safety protocols applied on site.
This visit enabled participants to make the connection between the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and its practical application in a complex and highly technological industrial environment. It is part of Timor Port’s commitment to contributing to the development of local skills and supporting the training of a new generation of Timorese engineers capable of supporting the country’s industrial and logistical growth.
‘By welcoming these future engineers, we are strengthening the bridge between academia and industry. At Timor Port, we believe that knowledge transfer and exposure to the technical environment of the port are essential to inspire and train the talents of tomorrow,’
Servet MPAMA, Technical Director of Timor Port.
Through such initiatives, Timor Port, a subsidiary of the Africa Global Logistics (AGL) group, is continuing its mission as a partner in the sustainable development of Timor-Leste, combining technological innovation, operational excellence and educational commitment.
This collaboration with UNTL demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting technical higher education and stimulating young people’s interest in careers in mechanics, engineering and port logistics.
